Lesson 1

Today we defined economics and discussed the choices we make every day.  We discussed free enterprise and the freedoms we have to choose how to spend our money; where we will live and the jobs we will work.  Communities, businesses and citizens also make decisions about how they will allocate their resources.  So many choices!

We also talked about the difference between Wants and Needs.  Students were given the assignment to make a list of wants and needs by drawing pictures or cutting pictures from a magazine/newspaper and defining each as a want or need.
